Layers

Video Device

Add and configure webcams, capture cards, and virtual cameras as layer sources.

A Video Device layer provides a live video feed from a hardware or virtual input — webcam, capture card, or virtual camera.

Add a Video Device

  1. Open the Sources Panel on the left side of the viewport.
  2. Your connected cameras and capture cards appear in the list.
  3. Click a device to add it to the active scene.

DualStream detects connected devices automatically. If a new device is plugged in, click Refresh at the top of the Sources Panel.

Video Device Settings

Configure resolution and framerate per device:

  1. Select the Video Device layer.
  2. Open the Inspector Panel on the right.
  3. Click the settings icon to open the device configuration dialog.

Available options:

  • Resolution — 1080p, 720p, etc.
  • Framerate — 30 FPS, 60 FPS

These settings are global — changing them updates the device across all scenes.

Quick-Action Crop Toolbar

When a Video Device layer is selected, a toolbar appears above it with crop presets:

  • Crop — Manual cropping with drag handles
  • Square — Rounded square crop
  • Circle — Circular crop
  • Vertical — Portrait crop
  • Reset Crop — Restore original dimensions

Troubleshooting

Camera not showing up

  1. Check Windows Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and make sure camera access is enabled.
  2. Close any other app that might be using the camera exclusively.
  3. Click Refresh in the Sources Panel.

Camera shows but video is black

  • Try a different resolution in the device settings.
  • Unplug and replug the device, then refresh.
